February 2007 - News Bulletin
Nationals changes:
NASA have agreed (as a special dispensation and on an experimental basis for 2007) to allow both Men’s and Ladies/Juniors Nationals to bring the start time forward to 10am and also to allow the use of the vertical start gate instead of lights or flags. The aim is to help the events to run faster and avoid, where possible, the problems of jump starts.
Non-NASA event:
NASA does not normally have a problem with Autograss cars taking part in promotional or out-of-season events that are not NASA affiliated. However, it has come to the notice of NASA that various non-NASA affiliated promoters are planning an event at Rockingham during the season on 15th & 16th September 2007. This event has stated its intention to use cars from within Autograss and attempt to promote Autograss, however, there has been no application to NASA for permission to run such an event by promoters or individuals. It is clear that the Rockingham event, in the format that has been suggested, would have a severe effect on NASA affiliated events on and around the dates concerned. In order to protect NASA affiliated events and the clubs running them, NASA cannot approve this event. Anyone opting to become involved in Rockingham will be opting out of involvement with Autograss for at least the 2008 season. Full reasons for this decision will be explained to the league representatives committee on 25th February.
Use of the company trademark:
The term “Autograss” and the NASA logo are the property of the company and should not be misused. However, following discussions, the directors have decided that anyone holding a NASA licence can reproduce the NASA logo solely for their own personal use (for instance as a car sticker). However, it must be emphasized that any misuse of the logo and trademark name “Autograss” is a serious disciplinary offence. For instance they should not be used on anything that may bring the sport into disrepute (eg: in conjunction with anything rude, offensive or inapproporiate), neither should an individual use the logo to suggest that he/she has more official standing in the sport than is true.
