March 2008 Bulletin - 09-03-08
Steering Test & Wheelying
Following recent tests, rear engined vehicles will now drive through 3 cones, twenty feet apart, at walking pace - see diagram below.
Initially, failure to pass this test will result in a note in your licence and being allowed to race at that meeting - however, if the car fails again at a subsequent test, it will not be allowed to race until it is altered accordingly.
For wheelying - please see Class 4/5/6/7 Rulebook, Page 12, Rule 1.7 and Class 8/9/10 Rulebook, Page 14, Rule 1.8. Initially, cars wheelying will be disqualified from that race and will be able to make alterations and be rescrutineered before competing again at the same meeting. Cars continuing to wheely will be disqualified from the remainder of that meeting.
In the Class 4/5/6/7 Rulebook, Page 28, Rule 2.35 and Class 8/9/10 Rulebook, Page 19, Rule 2.23 are no longer appropriate and will not be enforced for the 2008 season. Members are still highly recommended to build their cars to a 67%-33% weight split.
Green Flag Rule
Members are reminded that a green flag will result in the docking of two places for the offending car. For results, cars will be promoted to the respective finishing positions accordingly.
Class 2 Corsa
The Corsa using a 1300cc Nova engine will be allowed to compete in Class 2 for the 2008 season. However, as with previous experimental cars, they will not be counted for National Allocations, will not be allowed to qualify for or compete at the Mens/Ladies National Championships. Any further queries should be discussed with Derek Hardy (Dougal), NASA Chief Scrutineer.
Final Place Tieing
Clubs and Leagues are reminded that they are only allowed to run 8 car heats and finals. In the event of a tie for Final places, it is down to the host club/league to determine the 8 car grid. 9 car grids are not allowed.
2009 National Championships
The 2009 Mens National Championships will be hosted by Radford Autograss Club on their existing venue at Inkberrow. Applicants are still being invited for the 2009 Ladies and Juniors Nationals - the cut off date is May 17th.
Members Forum
The Directors have agreed that all league and club officials should now be allowed access to the Members Forum and everyone will have read-only access. This will be activated this week.
Communication
In an effort to improve communication between 'departments', the Board have suggested that before each Chairmans / Scrutineers / Marshalls meeting, representatives from each 'department' will meet to determine items/issues to be discussed at each meeting.
