Junior Specials Scrutineering Notes
The following is to help clarify the situation regarding the available engines and the swapping of various components to produce a non OE standard engine using standard replacement components. These are not new rules - but a clarification of what is already in the construction rule book.
The following engines only are permitted:
Vauxhall Corsa 1196cc (1.2 Litre) SOHC engine - 1993 to 2000
C12 NZ With Distributor ignition system - compression ratio 9.1:1
C12 NZ Distributor less ignition system. Without cat. conversion, compression ratio 9.1:1
C12 NZ Distributor less ignition system. With cat. conversion, compression ratio 9.1:1
X 12 SZ Distributor less ignition system. Compression ratio 10:1
Distributor Type C12 NZ Engine
The standard production distributor system must be retained in its entirety and remain in its original standard production form.
The cylinder head MUST be the correct type for the engine involved.
The fitting of a X12SZ cylinder head or distributor less C12NZ cylinder head engine to a Distributor C12NZ engine is prohibited.
The conversion of a cylinder head from a distributor less engine to a distributor engine type cylinder head is prohibited.
Standard production replacement pistons must be of the correct type for the engine.
The fitting of 10.1 pistons from the other X12 SZ later engine is not permitted.
